FPC WOMEN DEFEAT HOWARD 74-63 TO
COMPLETE SEASON The Frank Phillips College Women’s Basketball Team won 19 games, a nine game improvement in Eric Rodewald’s second year at the helm of the Plainsmen. On January 11th FPC knocked off then No. 6 ranked Midland College to hand the Chaparrals the only blemish on their conference record. FPC finished fifth in the WJCAC defeating Howard College 74-63 in the final game of the season . Sophomore sensation Nancy Aguilar of El Paso was named the NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week posting three straight double-doubles in one week leading the Plainsmen past Midland College, Western Texas College and Air Force Prep. Aguilar inked a scholarship in the fall signing period to attend NCAA Division I Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in the fall of 2010. Not only did the Plainsmen show tremendous progress on the court, but off it as well with Sophomore Point Guard Carmela Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico receiving the NJCAA Leader of Life Award in October. The Plainsmen look to continue their winning ways in the future according to Coach Rodewald. “We have a group of young ladies that have a common goal to be successful not only on the floor, but off it,” Rodewald said. “I have the privilege of coaching a very talented group of student-athletes that have high character and view our team as much more than a group of talented individuals, but a family that are very good basketball players and more importantly great kids.” To learn more about the Frank Phillips College Women’s Basketball Program please contact Coach Rodewald at (806) 440-4142 or (806) 457-4200, ext. 757 or at erodewald@fpctx.edu via e-mail.
