About college courses

High school students have the opportunity to complete up to 36 college credit hours before they graduate from high school.  Depending on the course, students can earn college and high school credit simultaneously with approval of high school principal / counselor. Students have the opportunity to attend course offerings offered at the high school or FPC campus.

Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), colleges cannot release a student’s academic information to anyone, even parents, without the student’s written consent.

Students are responsible for purchasing textbooks and supplies for FPC courses.

Student expectations

College courses often require three to four hours of study time each week depending on the credit hour of each course. For example: HIST1301 is a three credit hour course so students should expect to study three hours a week for that particular subject.

College course content is not modified to accommodate high school students. Dual-credit students are expected to maintain equivalent coursework to college students.

Student Information

CAMS  - Students can access their academic records using CAMS online. This software allows students to view the course catalog, course schedules, student schedules, unofficial transcripts, billing statements, and student e-mail.

Student precautions:

1. Do not share your login ID and password with anyone you do not want to have access to your academic records.
2. Do not leave CAMS open when you are using public computers because the next person to use the machine can access your records. Make sure you use the “Log Out” option to conclude your session.
3. If you do write down your login information, keep it in a secure place not within public view
