The Livestock Judging program at Frank Phillips College starts fresh for the 2014-15 academic year as Coach Brittany Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas, brings her extensive background in Animal Science and Agriculture into play.
Smith, originally from Freeman, MO, earned her Bachelors in Agricultural Food and Life Sciences from the University of Arkansas. Her experience in Animal Agriculture includes her active roles in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H. She was an active and successful member of both the University of Arkansas and Fort Scott Community College Livestock Judging Teams where she received multiple honors while participating.
I have raised and exhibited cattle, sheep, and pigs in show circuits and was promoted to the Student Lambing and Farrowing Barn Manager for the University of Arkansas teaching herds at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center, she said. Only a few select students have been chosen to manage in this capacity before, she added.
She recently served as Assistant Coach for the Elkins FFA Livestock Judging Team in Elkins, Arkansas, and was named the Outstanding Transfer Student for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences.
