FPC Athletic Training Program

The Athletic Training Program at Frank Phillips College has as its goal a dedication of excellence in academics and the preparation of athletic training students to become certified athletic trainers.

The student trainers will assist with the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries and illnesses. The program requires a high degree of dedication from the student athletic trainers. The student trainers are considered a member of the team they are working with.

The athletic trainers treat a variety of injuries, including ankle, knee and leg sprains, tendonitis, strained hamstrings and quadriceps, low back spasms and other problems. To deal with those injuries, the staff maintains a fully-equipped athletic training center, stocked with equipment ranging from muscle stimulators, ultra sound machines and TENS unit, cold compression equipment and various rehabilitation equipment.

The focus of the trainers efforts is to decrease pain, increase range of motion and promote the healing process. The goal is to get the athletes on a fast track of early return to play.
