FPC Volleyball Awards and Accomplishments 2008

The FPC Volleyball Squad has high expectations for the 2008 season. The team returns five sophomores, including NJCAA All American Kayleigh Giddens.  The FPC Volleyball Team is determined to make another NJCAA National Volleyball Championships appearance.  Under the direction of new head coach Tanya Allen, the team aspires to maintain their national prominence.  The team at the National Tournament has never finished outside of the “Top 10 in the Nation”.

FPC returns outside hitter Kayleigh Giddens (6’0”), who finished off the season as an All-Conference, All-Region and All-American player and earned a spot on the Nationals All-Tournament Team.  FPC also returns All-Conference and All-Region middle blocker Alexxa Roberts (6’1”).  Maintaining a tall roster, FPC returns middle blockers Laura Fry (6’1”) and Jackye Barber (5’10”), as well as right side hitter Callie Canon (6’2”).

The FPC Volleyball program has consistently sought young ladies who excel not only on the court, but also inthe classroom. Realizing that collegiate athletic success is no substitute for lifetime goals, the volleyball program stresses the pursuit of academic success foremost.

FPC volleyball has been recognized by the Texas House of Representatives for being “The premier junior college volleyball program in the nation” by Representatives David Swinford and Warren Chisum through a resolution passed by the House of Representatives in 2004. FPC Volleyball Players such as Desiree Batista, Jacqualin Doss, and Perla Faudoa have been spotlighted in the national publication Volleyball Magazine.
