Allied health Programs Certified Nurse Aide Nurse Aides assist in the care for the ill or injured by providing basic nursing skills and personal care. Nurse aides perform patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses. They have a broad range of duties including bathing, walking, feeding patients, making beds, assisting patients in and out of bed, dressing, helping patients with range of motion and shaving patients. They may provide skin care and observe patient’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. Frank Phillips College’s curriculum is approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities Services to teach you the skills necessary for work in a long-term care facility, hospitals, doctor’s offices, home health agencies and health departments. Instruction includes lecture, lab and clinical training in an approved facility. Students must be over 16 years of age, be able to read, write and speak English. Students must complete the State of Texas immunizations. This course will prepare the student to take the Texas Registry Exam for certification.
