Academic Advising

FPC students may receive academic advising and counseling to help develop course schedules, degree plans for approval by faculty advisors, and career counseling. Students are also encouraged to develop problem-solving skills, improve study skills and work with faculty advisors for effective educational planning. Referrals are made to other departments and agencies as needed.

Career Counseling

Career counseling is provided to help students assess occupational goals, develop strategies for success in achieving career goals and motivate students to accomplish such goals. Professionally developed occupation inventory and interest instruments, administered by a full-time counselor, are used to assess students' needs.

Tutoring Services

Tutoring is available to all FPC students eligible for Student Support Services. Core-curriculum subjects such as math, English, reading and writing skills, biology, chemistry, physical science and computer information systems are tutored by qualified tutors recommended by FPC faculty. Tutoring sessions may be one-on-one or in small groups.

Our SSS tutors are here to help you! Please send us your question via e-mail and we will be glad to get back to you as soon as we can. Our target turnaround time is 24 hours, except weekends. We do take this responsibility seriously.

Skill-Building Seminars

Group or individualized sessions are offered to students who want to improve their skills and become efficient learners. Seminars are short and include skill building in core areas such as math, reading and writing, as well as note taking, test anxiety, listening skills and other study skills.
